Boston For Real!

I'm having a time with the internet here so this will be brief.  We braved the subway into Boston.  Elaine was scared but it really wasn't that bad.  We had to jump from one train to another to get to the North part of Boston.  We actually missed it by one stop and had to get off and get to the other side to go back one stop.  While we standing there we had a drunk service man on the other side ask how to get into Boston.  We told him he had to get to this side to get on the right train.  He was mubbling something about being at some women's house and getting lost, he was sauced.  He said, just a minute, and then acted like he was going to jump over. I yelled at him to go take the stairs.  He said, wait right there...we moved down the landing just in time to get on the train before he found us.
This is Bunker's Hill.  It is a great story.  Not much to see and we didn't climb to the top of the spire knowing we had a long day of hiking.  The museum was very informative about the battle and the reason it took place.  Charlestown was beautiful, it was one part of Boston we really enjoyed.  The community was really clean and friendly.
This is the lower deck of the U.S.S. Constitution.  The ship is amazing.  It is still commissioned today and is run by real U.S. Sailors.  We spent about a half hour on the ship and got to watch a family fight over who was going to take the pictures.
This picture is for Brooke and Taylor.  Don't judge the sailor by his clothes.  He has been in the service for a year & half and is from Wisconsin.  Very nice fellow and we thought of Brooke and Taylor.  They wouldn't have learned anything if they would have been with us...
This place was awesome.  Everybody said we had to go there why we in Boston.  The placed was packed, we were lucky to get in.  We got us a couple of cannolis and ate them in a cement park across the street.  As we walked around Little Italy we really felt sorry for the kids growing up here.  There is no place to play and not a stitch of grass anywhere.  No wonder they join gangs.
This is Paul Revere's house.  The house was 90 years old when he bought it.  It has been a bank, cigar shop, candy shop, tenement house...you name it.  It has gone through several renovations over the years but has been restored.  It was fun to walk through and know he once walked the same halls.
This was a crazy place.  This is Quincy market.  There are dancers, singers, and jugglers.  A lot of activity.  Lots of vendors and shops selling their wares.  We did get inside the Fanueil Hall.  Played some interesting parts in our Country's history.  It is still used today as it was back in the day.
We thought this was cute, so did the lady who owned the dog.  I'm surprised she didn't charge us for taking a picture of her dog.  The dog has clothes and sun glasses on.
This is for Jaron.  Even on the State Capital they are rooting for the Celtics.  That is it in a nut shell.  More photos to come when we get home.  The day was long and we were pretty pooped when we got home.  The subway ride was interesting though.  Elaine had some kooky he/she, we aren't sure, person sitting beside her that started ranting about how the white man has it in for the black man.  We couldn't catch everything but we were happy when this individual got off the train.  Catch you later.

Cruzin' Plymouth & Sandwich

These are the gravestones of our ancestors the Burgess's.  They died in 1685 and 1687.  These headstones were placed there in the early 1900's but the original ones for Ezra and Elizebeth still stand.  They are almost unreadable but we did get some pics.
Now you know what we plan on doing with the money you think we are going to leave you.  See the name of the boat?
Here is Elaine is the English Garden behind the Mayflower Society House.  The house was built in the 1754 and bought and sold until the Mayflower Society purchased it.  Elaine loved the Garden.  It wasn't in bloom yet but was nice.

Yesterday we did a tour of Plymouth and Sandwich.  The picture above is the site where the Pilgrims held their first church service.  The church itself is quite old.  Elaine and I are going to attend there on Sunday, they still hold services there.  Right next door is a the church of the Pilgrims where they still worship the way the pilgrims did.

See you later.

Just a quick little note.  It's 10:30 and we have had an eventful day.  I will catch you up on it tomorrow.  This is the B&B where we are staying.  The windows on the second level are from our room.  A great view of Plymouth Bay.  We also found Ezra Perry's grave site.  More pics to come tomorrow.  Tomorrow we are heading into Boston to see the sites.

We're Here!

We made it and it was quite the adventure.  We got to the airport with time to spare but when we were checking in our baggage our large suit case was two pounds over.  So there we are on the side walk with our bag open, showing all our personal belongings to the World trying to figure out what to take out to get under the limit.  Lucky for us we had brought another back pack so we grabbed  two pairs of my jeans and threw them in.  It took enough weight off that we made it through ok.  Three bags and we were in...big sigh of relief.

We got in the airport, took our shoes off, wallet, keys, computer, ipod, belt...Why did I set the alarm off? "Please step back sir and try it again."  I did, much slower, much more deliberate...dang it!  Please step into that little glass room so everyone can see you why I wand and pat you down.   Yep, I was the side show.  Took about 10 minutes, in the meantime Elaine is outside my glass show house wondering what in the world was going on.  I got wanded and patted down...  "Cleared."

Ok, whewww....got to go to the bathroom.  There's the guys and there's the girls, meet you here in two minutes.  We meet up and while Elaine is filling the water bottle I look at the board and its says they are boarding our flight...holy mackrel...run!  of course our gate is the last one.  We made it..."Hello, what's your boarding pass number?"  "A23, great, we are right behind you."  "This is going to Baltimore right?"  "Uh, no, this is the flight to Las Vegas."  We're on the run again, found the right line and just in the nick of time.  We made it.  We got a good laugh out of that.  We made a stop in Denver and then flew on to Baltimore.

We had a small lay over in Baltimore so we picked up some fish tacos and just sat, ate, and relaxed.  We made the next flight to Providence with out any drama, except for the drunk women behind us who loved to talk and show off her liquor breath.  We arrived in Providence, picked up the car and decided to take the long way to Plymouth.  We drove through the back country and it was beautiful.  Tree lined and green and lush.  We'll get more pictures today.

We found our little bed and breakfast quite easily.  A cute little two story house with our windows overlooking the Plymouth bay.  We're right across the street from the Mayflower II.  We took a quiet little stroll and went to a place called the Cabby Shack.  We were told they had the best Clam Chowder in town, they were right.  All in all it was a great day.  I loved being with Elaine and chatting about anything and everything.  The first day was quite the adventure.  We'll keep you updated and get more pics out.  Love you all.

It all seems surreal. We are packed up, with the exception of a few items, and the suit cases are zipped up ready to go. It probably won't seem real until we're there. Of course you have Elaine moving bags from here to there and I can never seem to find the bag I need to put stuff in. "Where is the camera bag that was setting in the Den?" "In the kitchen?" What was she going to pack in the camera bag from the kitchen? I just have to laugh.

Jaron and Taylor are excited, we got them Kung Fu Chaos to play why we are gone...I'm sure Jaron will have it mastered before Bryan gets here to play. Taylor won the "Outstanding Leadership" award at last nights Track and Field awards dinner. Great accomplishment, she was really surprised. Jaron is playing Kung Fu Chaos, sorry Bryan.

Well, we're heading to bed, got to fly out early. Tomorrow will be spent flying most of the day. I got the ipod and computer and a plug in for two headsets so we can both listen to music and watch movies. Elaine has her bag packed with goodies...I'm sure that will pay off, you can only eat so many airline peanuts. Elaine is chasing us all to bed. I'll catch up tomorrow. Still doesn't seem real...here we go.

Boston For Real!

Boston here we come! Elaine and I met on Tax Day (April 15th) 1982.  It was love at first sight for me but she thought I was a jack mormon.  I think she thought she found me attractive...things that make you go hmmmmm.....  To make a long story short we ended up getting married 6 weeks later and because her parents weren't to happy we ended up just taking off and didn't get a honeymoon.  THIS IS OUR HONEYMOON!

This blog is dedicated to chronicling our Honey Moon adventure and sharing stories and pictures with our family.  Believe me, it's not to rub it in...but if your jealous that's ok, but to share the experience and fun and to thank our family for all the fun years and support.

We'll keep you updated.  Love you all.  bj
